Perry Holt & Co is a Chartered Surveying Practice established in 2002 offering a dedicated service to a number of clients. Property development projects, particularly regeneration projects, are a speciality of ours.

Founder and Director, Perry Holt, has extensive experience in the commercial property market in which he has gained over 50 years in the Watford & South West Hertfordshire area. In December 2019 Alex Sewell was appointed Managing Director. Alex brings extensive knowledge of the local residential market having run the successful agency Sewell & Gardner since 2002. Alex and Perry work together to deliver on the company’s growth plans for 2020 and beyond.

Perry Holt has over 50 years experience in the property market and has been working in commercial property since 1970 based in Watford. He is a Chartered Surveyor, qualified in 1986 and became a Fellow of the RICS in 2000.

He started his career in West London working for his uncle and after relocating to Watford he became a partner in a multi-discipline practice ultimately running the commercial department. That business was sold to the Abbey National Building Society (Santander) following which he and a fellow partner started their own business which they merged with another group with 5 offices.

In 2001 he established his own business Perry Holt & Co as a specialist commercial consultancy which is a Chartered Surveying Practice dealing with a variety of properties mainly in Watford South Hertfordshire and North London, and also on a client specific basis throughout the country. He has a number of high quality clients who value his advice which include property acquisition, letting and sales, valuation, rent review and property asset valuation.

Alex Sewell Managing Director

Alex established Sewell & Gardner in 2002 and has overseen huge growth in that time with 3 offices in the immediate area.

Having won the Sunday Times Small Estate Agency of the year for 3 consecutive years, Sewell & Gardner have continued their growth by establishing bespoke New Homes & Land teams to compliment their Sales and Lettings operations during this time.  During that time S&G have sold over 850 new homes, been involved in over 40 separate land acquisitions with a combined value of nearly £400 million.

In 2019, Sewell & Gardner completed the purchase of a significant shareholding in Perry Holt & Company, the area’s leading independent Commercial agents, to compliment their residential business and create new opportunity within both business. Alex lives in Watford with his wife and 3 children, having grown up in the area.

Joel Lobatto Head of Commercial Property

In 2008 I joined the Perry Holt & Co team. I was very privileged to have the opportunity of working with Perry as he is a successful Chartered Surveyor with intrinsic and invaluable knowledge of the sector. Perry taught me the running’s of the agency and my love for the business quickly grew. To start with I was tasked with dealing with smaller properties such as shops, offices and warehouses where I quickly grew in confidence due, I feel largely, to the interpersonal skills I had gained from hairdressing.

Throughout the 12 years Perry has mentored me and given me the confidence to take on more responsibility so I now have the experience to deal with multi-national clients, site acquisition and disposal of sites along with dealing with all aspects of commercial property. To date I have carried out over 500 deals with sales and acquisitions totalling over £100 million. I now have my own repeat clients due to my commitment of offering strong customer service and dedication to making the process as effortless and stress free as possible.

Outside of Perry Holt & Co I love spending time with family and friends. I am a petrol head and an avid Formula 1 supporter.

Ben Howard Land & Development Manager

My background is in the residential sector of the property industry which enables us as a firm to offer a niche consultancy service with vast experience in commercial and residential in-house. I previously worked for our sister company Sewell & Gardner and during my time there I worked in the residential sales, new homes and land departments which gives me a great knowledge when appraising sites to quickly ascertain a GDV. The previous role I am most proud of is working on behalf of Inland Homes to oversee phase 1 of their 100 unit scheme in North Watford. This gave me invaluable experience of both how a developer works and the construction process!

My role at Perry Holt & Co is to source and structure development acquisitions on behalf of my clients. This can vary from parcelling together 3 back gardens for 4 dwellings or working with our Head of Commercial Joel Lobatto, looking at a piece commercial land which has developments potential for a high rise block of apartments.  I always pride myself on being at the end of the phone if needed and I don’t shy away from difficult situations. I like to treat my clients how I would want to be treated.

Away from work I enjoy running, socialising and continuing my long term support of the local pubs! I also enjoy watching my team Chelsea FC play but end up going to more Watford FC games (more a fan than a supporter I suppose).

I first joined Perry Holt & Co in 2015 where my journey began as a personal assistant to Perry Holt, I have since developed my skills and knowledge of business and the commercial property industry.

I provide the team with key support in managing their hectic and demanding schedules; assisting Perry with his work on valuations and acquisitions of land and development schemes.

I am responsible for the marketing of properties, liaising with clients and dealing with applicant enquiries together with administration procedures that facilitate the smooth running of the business.
